FAQ

Common questions

ISR (Impuesto Sobre la Renta) is income tax — paid on profits by individuals and businesses. IVA (Impuesto al Valor Agregado) is a 16% value-added tax on most goods and services, collected from customers and remitted to SAT monthly. Both require separate declarations.

Most taxpayers file monthly provisional ISR and IVA declarations (declaraciones mensuales) by the 17th of the following month. Individuals and corporations also file an annual return (declaración anual) — individuals by April 30, corporations by March 31.

Individuals can deduct medical expenses, dental, glasses, tuition, mortgage interest, and charitable donations. Businesses can deduct operating expenses, salaries, rent, depreciation, and professional fees — provided they have valid CFDI invoices for each.

Yes. Foreigners with income from Mexican sources — rental income, employment, or business activity — must file Mexican tax returns regardless of their nationality or residency status. We specialize in helping foreign clients navigate SAT compliance.

SAT charges automatic surcharges (recargos) and inflation adjustments on late payments, plus potential fines. For unfiled returns, penalties can be significant. We monitor all deadlines and file on time every month — if something goes wrong, we handle the correction.
